Paris And Eva Get New Deals For The New Year

It’s been a big day for celebrity shilling: Eva Longoria will become the face of Bebe Sport’s spring/summer ad campaign, which launches in March, while Paris Hilton will debut sportswear and lingerie lines (which seem interchangeable in the heiress’ personal wardrobe, but that’s another post) this fall. While the often loungewear-chic-clad Longoria seems a perfect match for the trendy Bebe line, we’re not sure people are clamoring to emulate Paris’ fashion sense. What do you think?

Marilyn & Dita: Mourning The Loss of Fashion’s Fiercest Couple

When the end of Dita Von Teese & Marilyn Manson’s marriage was confirmed today, those of us obsessed with fashion sobbed, “oh no!” Irreconcilable differences aside, no couple has worked the red carpet with more flair than these two the past few years. Always decked out in perfectly coordinated couture attire — just look them here in Technicolor glory at a Marc Jacobs’ store opening in Los Angeles! — they made Ashton and Demi seem like frumps in comparison. Something about her 1940’s Marlene Dietrich-glamour complimented his dandy Goth getups just perfectly. (On their wedding day, Dita wore a purple Vivienne Westwood gown, while Manson opted for a John Galliano frock coat). How many couples wear matching red lipstick? But, alas, style is not everything and fashion cannot replace happiness. We can’t help but wonder who will take over their extreme fashion throne. Perhaps Christina Aguilera and hubbie Jordan Bratman?

Coloring Your Hair At Home? Don’t Follow Brit’s Makeover Habits

To those of you jonesing for dramatic hair color makeovers à la Britney or the Olsen twins — hold on a minute. John Frieda head colorist Sharon Dorram-Krause, whose clients include Kate Hudson, Kate Winslet and Linda Evangelista, warns that non-celebrities should proceed carefully. “I don’t recommend it for the layperson because they don’t have a colorist at their disposal, and the hair really takes a beating [in the process],” says Dorram-Krause. “A lot of times [stars] aren’t doing these transformations overnight—it happens over stages.” She recommends deep conditiong with L’Occitane’s Shea Butter or adding Vitamin E tablets to a Kerastase mask for “an extra boost.” And if you do decide to color your hair yourself, make sure you do a strand test on an underneath layer of hair to see how the color will take, says Dorram-Krause. “Otherwise it’s months before your hair looks good again.”

Check Out What’s On Sale! Project Runway Designs Marked Down

While Project Runway winner Jeffrey is enjoying his success, another of the show’s “auf-ed” contestants isn’t as lucky. Do you recall Angela’s lone victory (that she scored with more than a little bit of guidance from Michael and Laura)? Apparently, the rosette-adorned suit didn’t fly off the shelves the way that INC might have hoped — we ran across it drastically reduced on the macys.com site recently. The jacket was $129 and is now $25, while the pants are now $17 from $89. Still, not a bad price to pay now for a piece of TV history.

Vanessa Minnillo: How To Look Good In Short Shorts

As the host of TRL, an ET correspondent and the girlfriend of a pop megastar, Vanessa Minnillo sure is a busy gal.  But when BONGO JEANS asked the former beauty queen to be the new face of BONGO for Spring 2007, the self-proclaimed denim addict (she owns hundreds of pairs!) couldn’t say no — especially when she saw some of the clothes she’d be wearing in her very own ad campaign. “These shorts are special,” she told me at her sexy BONGO photo shoot, where she tried on cropped cardigans and comfy soft knit tanks, skirts, and shorts—some really SHORT shorts.  “I have no bum, but these give you a nice little booty.”   Ok, Vanessa, but when it comes to those teeny tiny shorts, booty isn’t everything—how does she keep her legs so long and lean?  “I’m not gonna lie, I do go to the gym.  But honestly, you just have to find time to be active,” she told me. Then she picked up a downright adorable pair of canvas pumps with red patent leather heels.   “But if you want these legs in these shorts?  These heels will help,” she said.  Spoken like a true pitchwoman.  —Kristen Mascia

Secrets From the Set: The Dirt on Courteney Cox’s New Role

If only we editors here at People got to spend our evenings swanning around Hollywood soirees in red couture evening gowns, engaging in witty, cocktail-fueled repartee with movie execs named Harvey. But, we can still appreciate how great tabloid editor-in-chief Lucy Spiller, as played by Courteney Cox in her first post-Friends TV role, looks in her crimson evening gown in the premiere episode of Dirt. It’s by designer Justo Artigas, and Cox had to be sewn into the garment every time she put it on, according to the FX publicity department. Ah, the sacrifices one must make for beauty. Not that Cox had to sacrifice too much: “She can literally wear a paper sack and make it look great,” gushed the show’s costume designer, LuEllyn Harper. Harper used designers like Prada, Costume National, Stella McCartney and Donna Karan for Lucy’s power wardrobe, and favored sharp silhouettes to mach the editrix’s sharp personality. “Her clothes have a sexiness to them, but she’s still this powerful businesswoman,” says Harper. “We mix business pieces with making her look good.” Can you wardrobe us next?
