The Scoop on Maggie Q’s Red Carpet Hair!

Sean Gallup/Getty; Alpha /Landov; Jason DeCrow/ap

When Hong Kong action star Maggie Q wanted to get glam for all her red carpet appearances for her new film Live Free or Die Hard, she turned to celebrity hairstylist Adir. He gave PEOPLE the scoop on how he created her looks for the New York, London and Berlin premieres. Tell us: Which is your favorite style for the actress?

BERLIN
Going for a “young and fresh feel”, Adir actually started the look the night before, applying deep conditioner to her hair. On the day of the premiere, Adir started by parting Maggie’s hair in the middle and drying it with a huge 3 inch round brush and Fekkai straightening balm. Once dry, Adir went over her hair wiith an ionic flat iron and finished with a Fekkai Glossing Cream on the ends.

LONDON
Adir wanted to create an “old Hollywood” look to complement Maggie’s Versace gown — the result a side-parted updo. Adir used Fekkai instant volume spray and dried the hair around a round brush, then curled random pieces with a thick curling iron. Secret tip: before putting her hair up, Adir created traction for the updo with Fekkai for Men Groooming Clay.

NEW YORK
This time, it was about a modern Brigitte Bardot. After drying the hair with a round brush again, Adir wrapped sections of Maggie’s hair on the outside of a curling iron, making sure to tug on each piece after curling to relax the curl. To finish the look, he pulled out a few tendrils around the face and finished with Fekkai Glossing Shine Mist.

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR, spending her day shopping in Beverly Hills. The actress stopped into Christian Louboutin where she stepped into a pair of sexy shoes and walked out with a shopping bag!

PAULA ABDUL, loading up on cosmetics during a shopping trip to Barneys Beverly Hills. The Hey Paula star left with four makeup brushes by T. LeClerc as well as a Plaisir Lip Pencil. She also left smelling nice, buying Serge Lutens fragrances in Gris Clair, Clair de Musc and Un Bois Vanille.

MARIA SHRIVER, doing a bit of shopping for her governor husband, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. Browsing the men’s section at Ron Robinson S2 in Fred Segal Melrose, Shriver found a “True Love and False Idols” brand t-shirt emblazoned with the message: ‘Welcome 2 California” and a buff male bod with a split face: one-half was the Terminator and the other was Conan the Barbarian. Think he’ll wear it?

Ivanka Trump Turns Jewelry Designer

Evan Agostini/Getty

Ivanka Trump, The Donald’s eldest daughter who was featured prominently on the last season of The Apprentice, is ready to make a name for herself: She’s launching her very own jewelry company in September, called — what else? — Ivanka Trump. “It’s very high end, very cool, a little bit of Old Hollywood reinvented,” Trump revealed to PEOPLE during a “ladies-night” outing with a group of girlfriends at downtown Manhattan’s newly refurbished SushiSamba restaurant. “It’s my first totally independent venture, and I’m really excited.” True to Trump style, the line’s not exactly inexpensive — think “a lot of diamonds,” Trump says, showing off a signature 7-carat diamond ring and large diamond-encrusted knotted earrings. The sometime model and successful real estate developer at the Trump Organization will be selling her pieces at her very own Ivanka Trump stores, the first of which will open on New York’s tony Madison Avenue in September (the second in Las Vegas will follow shortly after). “At the end of the day my focus will always be the real estate,” Trump admits. “But I love jewelry, and I’m just excited about it!”
