Beauty Roadtest: Eyelash Conditioner

Courtesy of Jan Marini

Your mother warned you the eyelash curler would break your lashes. Despite that advice, you’ve spent years crimping your lashes into a flirty curl. Well, I finally learned my lesson. No prizewinners to begin with, my lashes were falling out and breaking off. No amount of mascara would make them look much better than a stubble, and I was starting to panic. But then, I heard about Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner, the cult fave of Hollywood celebs. The stylist on Desperate Housewives orders the wands by the boxful. Rachel Ray has raved and Amber Valletta wouldn’t be caught without this miracle worker. Better yet, derm to the stars, Dr. Paul McAndrews, whose specialty is all things hair (as in repairing those bald spots caused by extensions) recommends it. The conditioner is brushed on makeup-free eyes at bedtime — just never with makeup. I wasn’t buying the talk of miracles, but after three months of (almost daily) my lashes are denser, lusher and easier to curl — yeah, that’s right, I haven’t given up the curler either. You can buy pure silk amino acids online ( it’s a key hair ingredient) and add a few drops to your regular mascara. You’ll see results in a matter of weeks as opposed to months and it’s much less expensive.

What an enormous waste of money! Is using an eyelash curler that essential? Why not just buy a good mascara?

KR

Honestly, this sounds great but why is it this expensive? Is it supply and demand, is there nothing else like it in the world? Ridiculous. You can buy a really great hair conditioner for 30 bucks and that’s for a whole head of hair. I’ll take my chances with the evil eye lash curler and a nice mascara instead.

$160.00!! I’d rather buy J-Lo’s $94 T-shirt.
I guess my eyelashes will never make it on Hollywood’s A-list.

gracie

I have it. Not a waste of money. Seriously, my eyelashes are LONGER! Hardly need mascara. As are my moms. Much easier and cheaper than extensions. My tube lasted 6 months…

Mary

I have ridiculously short and sparse eyelashes, but I think $160 is too much.

this product may work for keeping lashes soft, but it doesn’t help with growth! save your money!

Karen

you dont need lash conditioner. all you need is a good curler. the best one on the market is the shu uemera lash culer ($1 8) and it doesnt damage your lashes.

Michelle

I’ve been using the Age Intervention lash for over a year now. I had to get my lashes permed last month because they got so long and are blocking my vision.

I love it. It’s an amazing product. One tube lasts over 6 month and for only $160.00 That’s cheap. But if you can’t afford, that’s too bad for you!

gracie

seriously! michelle is right….it is awesome. not talking superficially great lashes….naturally great lashes. it has changed my life. totally worth it if you can swing it and factor that it comes out to about $26/month….
