Ramey

We envy Kate Hudson’s perfect California golden locks, so when we spotted bright blue highlights in her hair on the set of the new movie Bride Wars we just couldn’t believe our eyes! Luckily, it’s just a wig she is donning for her character — could it be the “something blue” for the film’s wedding day scene? Kate and co-star Anne Hathaway seem to be having loads of fun on the set of the new comedy, so we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us. Tell us: Are blue highlights something Kate should try out in real life? What do you think about the look on her?

What’s the Best or Worst Style Advice Your Mother Has Given You?

Ian West/AP

When it comes to Kate Hudson’s style, we think of sunshine, flip flops and boho fashion, much like her California-chic mom, Goldie Hawn. Goldie’s laid-back yet stylish look seems to have rubbed off on her starlet daughter, who was recently honored by Elle as a style icon. Goldie seems to be passing along all of the best fashion advice to Kate, but the editors at StyleWatch want to know what words of wardrobe wisdom your mothers have given you? Tell us: What was the best–or worst–style advice you’ve ever gotten from your mother?

Get the Look: Kate Hudson’s Golden Glow

Chris Jackson/Getty

Kate Hudson may be the star of box office hit Fool’s Gold, but there was nothing phony about her all-natural makeup look for the BAFTA Awards. We were so impressed with her subtle golden glow that we asked her makeup artist, Leslie Lopez to let us in on the secrets — and they’re a lot simpler than you’d think. Lopez says she took inspiration from Kate’s Dior sequined gown when planning the look. “The dress was so strong on its own,” she explains, “that I wanted to keep the makeup light-handed and natural so there was a balance.” The key? Keep the products to a minimum. Lopez used just five essential items. She started by creating a base with Dior’s lightweight Airflash Foundation in #300, $60, which gives skin an airbrushed effect. A dusting of LORAC Cheek Duo Blush/Bronzer, $29, added a sun-kissed glow. Lopez then blended NARS Goldfinger eye shadow over the star’s upper lid and applied a couple sweeps of DiorShow Mascara in Black, $24. The final touch, dewy neutral lips, were created with Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Casual Beige, $25. We think the final effect goes to show that sometimes less really is more.

Did Kate Hudson Forget Her Pants?

Green/Adao/INF(2)

Stars in short skirts are hardly big news — we’ve even become accustomed to seeing people in shorts so short they look like tap pants. But there is something about Kate Hudson’s “dresses” that she’s been wearing while filming in Boston that read so strongly to us as shirts that we can’t help but wonder. . .did she forget to put on pants? Her grey t-shirt would look so cute over jeans tucked into her favorite Barbara Bui boots, and her long-sleeve buttondown would work even better over some leggings or shorts underneath it. If anyone has the body to pull off the no-pants look, it’s certainly Kate — but just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. . .Tell us: Do you think it looks ike Kate forgot her pants? Or do you like the dresses on their own?
